Our winery (circled in red in the below picture) is situated at the bottom of the hill where the area of the controlled denomination “Prosecco of Valdobbiadene Superior of Cartizze” begins.
This tiny DOC (only 105 hectares) is positioned from S. Stefano and Saccol, two districts of Valdobbiadene.

The BORTOLIN family owns two CARTIZZE vineyards called "Strop" and "Val".

"Strop" is located on the south side of the hill. This vineyard has a deep hill.

"Val" is situated below the road that goes from S. Stefano to Saccol. Also “Val” is on a deep hill but it has a lesser slope compared to “Strop” which makes it more accessible.

The two vineyards are not very large (2 hectares in total), this is due to the fact that the CARTIZZE vineyards are transmitted from generation to generation and there isn’t a real sell-buy of the land given the extremely high cost of the land in this region. The CARTIZZE area is divided among all the owners thus resulting 0.2 hectares of lands on average per owner. The steepness of the hill does not allow for any mechanical operation. For this reason there has been an agreement between the owners of the area a consortium to handle all the anti-parasite treatments which are carried out by helicopter.
